Consortium for Advancing Research and Evaluation in Tracking Unmet Health & Social Care Needs of Older Populations

CARETRACK

CARETRACK is here to support the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, and the WHO Global Strategy on Ageing and Health, all of which recognise the importance of strengthening measurement and data on older persons for monitoring and evaluation of public health programme, policies and interventions.

Our values

We recognise the diversity in societies at different levels of demographic, social and economic development

We value the input of consumers

We build capacity in the sector

Our goals

  1. Enhance the theoretical and conceptual understanding of what constitutes health and care unmet needs among older people in different global regions;

  2. Establish an agreed basis for defining and assessing unmet health and social care needs for older people that can be applied across countries;

  3. Knowledge translation into context-specific policy recommendations;

  4. Provide tools and examples of engaging older people and their informal carers in developing measurements and indicators of unmet needs; and

  5. Support building the capacity of early and mid-career researchers in LMICs by introducing and training on relevant theories and measurement techniques.

Our goal is to contribute to the elaboration and implementation of public policies on ageing and influence the direction and priorities for the measurement and monitoring of these issues in the decades to come

Where can you find us?

  • CARE∞TRACK builds on an already substantial body of knowledge and expertise assembled in gerontology and related fields over several decades.

  • However, that international body of knowledge is not always fully accessible or relevant within the social and economic circumstances of countries with substantially fewer resources for conducting research and monitoring of unmet health and social care needs of older people.
